May Day - Stop the Occupation
10 AM - May 1
Federal Building (Liberty and Virginia)
Here in Reno, we plan to demonstrate our solidarity with the courageous stand of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union. The ILWU dockworkers are risking their jobs to oppose the Bush regime's war policy. The least we can do in Reno is to publicly show our support for their antiwar strike by gathering in front of the Federal Building at Virginia and Liberty, across from the big banks, at 10 a.m. on Thursday May 1st.
The West Coast longshore workers have voted to stop work to protest against the ongoing war and occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan. The Port Workers May Day Organizing Committee and the other rank-and-file committees in ports up and down the West Coast have received pledges of support from labor councils, local unions and anti-war, anti-racist, immigrant and other social justice organizations across the country and around the globe.
Here in Reno, the local antiwar movement pledges our support as well.
