RENO, NV -- Alternative Transportation Club (ATC) members will be

Of particular interest to ATC members is the RTC SMART TRIPS program

A formal launch of the program by the RTC to which the media will be

GLIDER FOR SALE (A CAR WITHOUT AN ENGINE) -

Kevin here (the guy with the green electric barstool)

I was wondering if you could do me a favor. I started a car conversion
to make myself an Electric Car. I chose a generation one '85 Mazda Rx7.
I got this BEAUTIFUL car from the original owner in San Francisco when
she blew the engine. The great thing about choosing the Rx7 is that it
will not only make for a fun car when its finished, but because it was
a great sports car, the frame structure is nice and rigid so it will be
able to handle the battery weight.

Anyhow, thus far I have only stripped the car down and removed most
everything necessary. Unfortunately, my employment situation has taken
a downturn and I don't think I'll be able to take on this car project
anymore.

Can you please mention it to the group at the upcoming meeting and see
if anyone is interested in buying it? I paid $1200 but that is
negotiable. My phone number is 775-233-9035

ELECTRIC AUTO ASSOCIATION UPDATE

Cheers Alternative Transportation Club, EAA,

Electric Auto Association UPDATE

from Chapters Relations East, J. "EVJerr" Asher

First Item: Have you recently received a packet from Texas? Austin
Energy sent a packet out, which contained a 13-minute DVD in it. It's
in regard to its Plug in Partners Program ? See the Austin Energy's
website:

www.PluginPartners.com

Austin Energy recently mailed this PiP program material to all EAA
Chapters, except the four newest Chapters, which are being handled
separately. The program is really an invitation to sign on as a
non-profit organization partnering with Austin Energy. From the
website above, one can download the DVD video. It’s extremely well
done and tells a moving story that has in mind a greener & cleaner USA
and Canada.

EAA along with several other EAA Chapters, such as Phoenix EAA and
EVADC, are already signed up. Intention is to have some 40 plus EAA
Chapters signing on for the Plug in Partner Program before its program
ends within a year.

NOTE: Your feedback to me would be most appreciated. It would
especially alert me that your Chapter is on-board with Austin Energy.
Also, I’m expecting to meet PiP folks at the Maker Faire in Austin,
Texas, c0me 20-21 October. Or EVen before!

Second Item: EAA Board of Directors Elections is upon us! You may
nominate a stalwart of yours. Or even self-nominate. Send in your
nomination of an EAA Member in good standing (dues are paid!) straight
away to: Board at EAAEV.org

Note: Candidate Statement needs to be composed and sent in to the
Board for mailing out. The EAA BoD Elections Letter with ballot and the
candidate statements is due out in early December. But also remember
that the sooner the better, as that extra time helps with the
publishing of Candidates Statements in Current Events as well as having
it posted on the EAA Website www.EAAEV.org. If you have any questions,
do contact the EAA Elections Chairwoman, Karen Jones PVEAA at comcast.net,
or EAA Chairman, Ron Freund Chairman at eaaev.org

Third Item: Let GM know! Former GM EV1 Representative, and starlet in
Who Killed the Electric Car, Chelsea “EVChels” Sexton from Plug in
America recommends following up on EVADC Member Charles Cranston’s
query -- Should we see our local Chevy dealer about being put on the
“Volt Waiting List?” … She has also given us two toll-free phone
numbers, in fact, for calling GM:

For the Volt, call CHEVY: (800) 222-1020

For the Vue, call SATURN: (800) 553-6000

So you can ask to be put on waiting list for the Volt and/or the Vue.
EVChels notes that you may receive a lukewarm reception, but don‘t be
discouraged by it either.

Sidenote: Charles’ query was in response to EVADC’r Bryan
Murtha accounting of GM’s commercial and “Is it true?“ slogan:
“I have seen the future and it hums!”

Fourth Item: Electric Drag’in! Here's an EVent that the EVA of San
Diego President, Bill Hammon BHammon1 at san.rr.com (858)-268-1759) has
asked me to spread the word about -- Electric Drag'in is meant to be a
totally electric drag racing EVent (without ICEs). It's coming to San
Diego in Saturday/Sunday, 26/27 January 2008.

Special Note: The fastest EV dragster alive is believed to be
coming! That is Dennis Berube in his Current Eliminator; further
beliefs hold that he’ll have two pit crews -- one from Phoenix EAA
and one from Tucson EVA2.

     See below:

Chapter to pass along to the Current EVents Editor CEEditor at eaaev.org
and the Webmaster Webmaster at eaaev.org any EVent announcement for
publishing in the "Calendar of EVents" or posting on the EAA Website.

Fifth Item: EAA Awards . Let’s think about what each Chapter can do
to honor its own distinguished personages for starters. Let‘s then
keep in mind that you can nominate people for the EAA Fellowship Award,
the EAA Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Keith Crock Award for
Technical Excellence. These awards are presented at the EAA Annual
Members Meeting in February.

EAA Historian, Terry Wilson, EAAHistorian at Care2.com is ready,
willing and able to take your nominations. Let’s continue to honor
outstanding EAA individuals in this, our 40th Anniversary year of the
Electric Auto Association.
EVer,

J. "EVJerr" Asher
