RENO TO PARTICIPATE IN INTERNATIONAL INTERFAITH FAST FOR PEACE DAY
October 8 is International Interfaith Fast For Peace Day - a day to reflect on turning from violence to reverence, on making peace in Iraq, Burma, and around the world. Communities world wide are marking this day in various ways. In Reno:
First United Methodist Church (209 W. First St, Reno) will be open all day from 6am --6pm for prayer and meditation in the sanctuary. (Rev. Auer)
The regular Monday night vigil will feature speakers reflecting on peace from various faith traditions, from 5:30-6:00pm at the Federal Bldg, 400 S. Virginia, St., Reno (there will be short reflections by leaders from Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Native American, and other faiths, along with music for peace)
Many ecumenical groups are sponsoring the event in Reno, including Pax Christ-Reno, the Catholic Life, Peace, and Justice Commission, and Sierra Interfaith Action for Peace.
