    As you know, DOE released two draft Environmental Impact Statements dealing with the Yucca Mountain program in early October:

     

    (1)    Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement for a Geologic Repository for the Disposal of Spent Nuclear Fuel and High-Level Radioactive Waste at Yucca Mountain, Nye County, Nevada

     

    (2)   Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement for the Nevada Rail Transportation Corridor and Rail Alignment for the Construction and Operation of a Railroad in Nevada to a Geologic Repository at Yucca Mountain, Nye County, Nevada

     

    Public hearings on these EISs are scheduled as follows:

     

    Nov. 13th - Hawthorne, NV

    Nov. 15th - Caliente, NV

    Nov. 19th - Reno, NV

    Nov. 26th - Amargosa Valley, NV

    Nov. 27th - Goldfield, NV

    Nov. 29th - Lone Pine, CA

    Dec. 3rd - Las Vegas, NV

    Dec. 5th - Washington, DC

     

    The purpose of this email is to remind anyone who plans to attend and make statements (limited to 5 minutes ) at the public hearings to call DOE to register and request a time slot at the specific hearing(s).  The phone number to call to request speaking time is:  1-800-225-6972 .
