This looks like a wonderful way to spend a little time on Mothers Day. It will happen on Highland Street in the park, right next to the Quaker Meeting House, which is located at 497 Highland Ave. It is suppse to be only a short amount of time..I don't think people will be there more than half an hour, (but one of the websites linked to this says 1-3pm!)

  Hello SIAP folks,
One of the Quaker women has arranged for Reno to participate in this Sunday's event. Please, read her message below and join us at 1:00 PM. Blessings, Patsy

Let's take a stand next Sunday, on Mother's Day, to make the world a better place! It won't take much time and could really make a statement. Go to the following web site www.standingwomen.org and click on 'Where women are standing' to see where women are standing all over the world. Here in Reno, we'll be standing in the park next to our Quaker Meeting House. I know that Mother's Day is usually reserved for 'Mom' things--but this seems important so I hope you can participate. Bring your men-folk, too--the more the merrier!

Interestingly, a friend of mine sent me the following after I told her about this. To me, it really personalized the whole thing even more.

Sharon Workman Mehdi, who wrote the book about the grandmothers standing in silence went to Reno High School, was a neighbor of ours and a friend of my sister's.
