Dear Friends:
Arnold Toynbee, a historian who wrote much about the rise and fall of
civilization said that "died of spiritual and moral decline" could be
the epitath of most societies. The decline of the virtues of Love,
Integrity, Courage, Service, and Respect around us are only a symptom of
a deeper cause. We can do something direct and concrete about it!
A personal team experience.
I am a single dad and live full-time with my 12 year old boy. He is fast
becoming a teenager with hormonal shifts and going back and forth from
being a loving boy who wants to be near me to an irritable child who
wants to just hang out with his guy friends. So, last Fall in a team
meeting I realized that getting frustrated and angry with him only made
things worse.
I even thought about sending him to live with his mother--my
relationship with him got that bad.
The main issue, I realized was me---I was focused on how I wanted him to
change first. During a team meeting I was able to put the intention out
to the group to transform my relationship with my son. I did this over a
period of several months. I also prayed to God for the courage and
strength to Love my son from a higher place.
You have got to "GET SOME ALTITUDE" in order to CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE.
When I stopped looking at trying to change him, instead, with God's help
I worked to change myself by changing my perception of him---a minor
miracle happened---his behavior started to change. The more Love and
forgiveness I showed him, the more he shifted! It does not even have to
involve words---we transmit our being outward.
Now, this kind of shift doesn't happen overnight. It takes focus and
discipline within us to make it a stable change. I still have to work on
it every day, but it gets easier once I shifted my perception. And it
doesn't mean that I am a dormat---he still gets consequences for his
actions. I am still the father and he is my son.
This principle of cultivating virtue by "going vertical," humbling
ourselves, asking for help, and setting the intention can affect all of
our relationships. That is why the team is so important---to support one
another as we stabalize this new awareness. And, my story is not special
or extraordinary--we are called to live lives like this, not living a
life as if in a battleground. Many more stories like this have happened
in the teams, with very ordinary but courageous people who have a high
desire to be speak simply from the heart.
Imagine if we could apply this principle to all our relations---over
time, our lives would be fundamentally changed and so would the world!
Our families would become stronger and more unified and our capacity to
positively influence others and bring peace and healing to a hurting
world would continue to grow. Imagine hundreds and thousands of people,
consciously working together, in a concerted effort to uplift humanity
right here where we live.
What happens at a Team meeting?
People share how we are demonstrating common virtues

It is a simple, small group conversation that has created some amazing
results in people's lives and in the community as a whole.
Imagine waking up each day with a desire to be of service to everyone
you meet. If you would like to feel this way, then come join us!
Imagine being with a committed group of people and sharing ways that we
have been able to demonstrate our strength of character in common
situations. We also share areas of our lives where we would would like
to grow stronger. The group setting is a powerful way for intentions to
become real.
