_Molly Ivins POTS 'N' PANS BRIGADE_
The _Molly Ivins POTS 'N' PANS BRIGADE_ will be marching in Reno's
Fourth of July Parade this Wednesday at 10:00 am. If you've ever
harbored a secret desire to be part of that yearly parade honoring the
principles on which our great nation was founded, this is your chance.
Everybody is invited to come! Bring a sturdy pot (or pan) and something
unbreakable to beat with (such as a metal spoon). The noisier, the
better! If you have earplugs, WEAR THEM (this is pretty close to
mandatory)--if not, we do have a few extra pairs to lend.
Here are the particulars:
WHERE: _Our_ staging area (there are several) is on 6th Street between
Virginia and Center Streets (think old Dairy Queen).
WHEN: _You MUST be there no later than 9:45am_. P 'n' P people will be
there by 9:30. I have no idea what traffic will be like or what parking
will be available (check the newspaper?). The parade starts at 10:00
and lasts about one hour.
WHO: Non-bangers are needed: 1) to carry the American flag, 2) to
hand out business cards that detail the weekly Tuesday event, and 3) to
push a cart loaded with a large (60" high) 3-sided sign tethered to a
heavy weight to keep it from sailing off in a brisk wind. The sign will
be pushed in a zig-zag pattern in front of the group and _will require
someone with a lot of energy and stamina_. Please call Gale at 544-0463.
WEAR: _EAR PLUGS_! Comfortable shoes. No flip-flops! You'll be
marching for one hour (but please feel free to drop out if your energy
flags -- forgive the pun). Red-white-blue (one color or in combination).
BRING: A bottle of _WATER_!!! (Put it in your pants pocket or tie a
string around the top and wear ir around your neck.) Sun-screen. A
broad-brimmed hat. Sun glasses. (The high temperature on Wednesday is
predicted to be 101 degrees, so the morning will be in the high 90's.)
I hope to see you on Wednesday!
