On Tuesday, at 11:30 am, right after the pots and pans, we will be delivering letters to Reid, Ensign, and Heller's office, once again asking for a meeting with each (or their staff). The idea is that I don't think any of want to sit around all summer while Congress does nothing about the war, just waiting until August or September when the current funding bill runs out/
You can write your own, or, just sign the one I wrote below (change it any way you wish). Just email it back (koffeenut at yahoo.com), and I will cut and past it into a separate Microsoft Word document and make three copies (one for each Congressperson). Also, I will bring copies to the vigil and pots and pans for people to sign.
Please pass this email on to your friends and any others ((like, your whole political list - I know some of you have big ones!) (I have provided the contact info for Congresspeople as well).
I would love to have a huge stack ready to go Tuesday morning.

Here is one letter you can use, change, etc.

  Dear Senator __________
Late in May Congress voted to spend $100 billion to fund the war through the end of September, without putting any timetable on the removal of our troops.
Since that time the violence in Iraq has escalated, with May becoming the third deadliest month for American troops in Iraq since the invasion in March 2003. Iraq is still embroiled in a violent sectarian civil war, hundreds of its people are dying every month, and there is no plan in place to bring our troops home and end the bloodshed.
A majority of the American people want the troops to come home A recent CBS/NY Times poll shows that 63% support a timetable for bringing the troops home, and 69% feel that any further funding for the war should come with benchmarks (13% feel that there the war should not be funded at all.) A recent Gallup poll showed that over two thirds of the Iraqi people would like the occupation to end.
Congress should not wait until September to listen to the majority of Americans. A long, bloody, violent summer is ahead for our troops and the Iraqi people unless Congress acts now to enact an exit plan and cut off funding for this war.
While it is important to keep our country safe, by going to war in Iraq we have done just the opposite: our own intelligence agencies have said we are more in danger than before the invasion.
As our elected representative in Congress, I am asking you to act now to put an end to this war.

                                                                Sincerely,

  Addresses for Congresspeople:
Senator Harry Reid, Senator John Ensign and Congressman Dean Heller
