Do it. I did. I believe his office is getting lots of calls, and I'm
hoping they're all in favor of the pullout. Make it an avalanche! Don't
give up if the phone rings on and on. It took about 15 rings before they
answered.

Subject: Give Sen. Ensign a wake up call on the war!
Sen. Ensign just voted to keep the filibuster going. Can you call Sen.
Ensign right now and tell him that you're outraged at his stalling
tactics and want him to vote to bring our troops home quickly?

Dear MoveOn member,
Last night, thousands of us rallied around the country to stop the
Republican filibuster of a vote to end the war. (Some great stories and
pictures are below.)
It's really absurd when you think about it-Sen. Ensign actually stayed
up all night to defend the president's disastrous policy in Iraq. And
just a few minutes ago he voted to keep the filibuster going!
We need to keep the heat on and make it clear that we're not going to
let up until he votes to end the war. Can you call Sen. Ensign today and
him that you're outraged at his stonewall on Iraq? Tell Sen. Ensign that
you want him to vote for the Levin-Reed amendment to bring our troops
home by April.

Last night's events which took place in states all over the country-from
Miami, Florida to Anchorage, Alaska-really exposed Republican
obstruction on ending the war. Here are just a few of the news reports
covering last night's counter-filibusters to end the war.
"The hour-long protest was organized by MoveOn, a liberal group, and
Iraq Summer Campaign, which opposes the war. Protesters held signs with
slogans that included 'Support the Troops, End the War,' lit candles and
read letters from former soldiers and members of military families who
support ending the war. Every few moments, a horn would blow from one of
the cars whizzing by on Dixie Highway. 'Hear those horns,' said Zana
Lummus of Cold Spring, a Northern Kentucky MoveOn organizer. 'Every one
you hear supports us. A lot of people can't get out here to do this, so
we're doing it for them.'"
-Cincinnati Enquirer, July 18, 2007
"Members of MoveOn.org protested last night outside senator Jim Inhofe's
Oklahoma City office. MoveOn says it wants Senators Inhofe and Tom
Coburn to stop blocking the timetable vote. "It's a game, they try to
act like the democrats are not doing anything but the republicans are
the ones that are actually blocking this bill from passing."
-ABC Local Affiliate KOCO, Oklahoma City, OK
"MoveOn.org, the anti-war group, announced plans for more than 130
events around the country to coincide with the Senate debate, part of an
effort to pressure Republicans into allowing a final vote on the
legislation. A candlelight vigil and rally across the street from the
Capitol was prominent among them, with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi,
D-Calif., attending."
-Associated Press, July 17,2007
And MoveOn members really put the pressure on their senators at home.
Check out just a few of the early reports we're seeing roll in:
"Sen. Specter always tries to play both sides. We pushed home the
message that Specter has to take a stand and either support the
president or support the troops."
-Jeff G., Philadelphia, PA
"Being at a the place we were because it is both in front of the office
building where Coleman's office is, and because of rush hour and the
amount of traffic that backs up to turn left onto a major highway, many
people had time to read the signs and see the support-others honking and
giving us a thumbs up, etc-everyone became more aware of how unpopular
this war is. "
-Joe M., Roseville, MN
"We need to keep sending the message. Maybe the Senate Republicans will
hear one day-and this was the first public event in conservative
Hendersonville."
-Jim W., Hendersonville, NC
"This whole thing-the organizing, phone calls, faxes to media, etc, was
made worthwhile by the young lady who's fiancee is now doing his fourth
tour in Iraq, "because he doesn't have skills for any other job that
makes enough to feed a family". She saw us on the early news and rushed
down to the Counter-filibuster just to make sure we had her name and
would let her help with upcoming protests against involvement in Iraq."
-Marquis H., Indianapolis, IN
And be sure to click below to see a great slideshow of photos from last
night's events.

Last night was totally amazing-but our work isn't done yet. The
Republican stonewall on ending the war continues and we have to keep the
pressure on.
Please call Sen. Ensign today.

Thanks for all you do.
