  Press Advisory: Press Conference to request meeting with Congressional Delegation
  Area Peace Activists ask Congressional Reps for a Meeting During President's Day break

  What: On Tuesday, at 415 pm, Northern Nevadans concerned about the continuing war in Iraq will be delivering letters to Congressional offices asking to meet with our representatives. 
     We will hold a short press conference and then deliver the letters to the offices of Senators Reid and Ensign, and Congressman Heller. 
   
  When: Tuesday, February 13, 4:15pm  
   
  Where: Bruce Thompson Federal Building, 400 S. Virginia St., Reno, NV 
   
  Background:: Our Congressional Representatives will be back in their states and districts from Feb. 17 to Feb 25. We are requesting a meeting with each of the three who represent Northern Nevada residents: Senator Reid, Senator Ensign, and Congressman Heller.  
     Our intention is to discuss the concerns of a large portion of their constituents who would like to see our troops begin to come home from Iraq. This is an extremely crucial time, as Murtha's House Appropriations Defense sub-committee is now looking at the president's supplemental appropriations request for about $100 billion. Recent CNN opinion polls show that 67% of Americans now oppose the war in Iraq, and two thirds are opposed to the president's request for a troop surge.
     We will deliver letters to the office of each Congressional representative requesting this meeting. We feel our elected officials, who are back in their states and districts to meet with their constituents, should be willing to take about 30 minutes to meet with us over the issue that was foremost on voters' minds this past November.
