STOP DIVINE STRAKE this weekend! March / press

The National Nuclear Security Agency's (NNSA) Divine
Strake detonation - slated for later this year - WILL
spew soil laced with radiation into the atmosphere
which some scientists believe will travel at least
1,200 miles from the blast site.
 
The explosion itself is not nuclear, however, the
blast WILL generate a giant mushroom cloud over the
Nevada Test Site that WILL resuspend soil containing
radioactive fallout from the open-air atomic testing
of the fifties and sixties.

The contaminated soil WILL be blown up and out of the
test area, once again threatening to create another
public health catastrophe.

Additionally, the test reflects the Bush
Administration's desire to usher in a second atomic
age of nuclear weapons development and testing. (See

at the Legislative Building in Carson City at noon and
marching a short distance (3/4 mile) to the Governor's
mansion. A sign making party and car pooling begin in
the morning.

* * * ITINERARY FOR SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 3, MARCH /
PRESS CONFERENCE / ART SHOW:

SIGN MAKING - 9:00 AM at the Great Basin Mine Watch
(GBMW) offices, 505 S Arlington (corner of Arlington
and California).

CAR POOLING - we leave the GBMW offices at 11:00 am.

GATHERING FOR THE MARCH - Noon at the Nevada State
Legislative Building, 401 S Carson Street (immediately
south of the capital building in Carson City).

MARCH TO GOVERNOR'S MANSION - begins at 12:15 PM
arriving at the mansion (600 N. Mountain St) at 1:00
PM.

PRESS CONFERENCE, PETITION SIGNING, AND ART SHOW -
from 1:00 - 2:00 PM in front of the Governor's
Mansion.
