This is to let other smaller (and larger) cities know what we're up
to in Flagstaff in hopes that we encourage you to do the same thing
where you live. Thanks to activists in L.A. and elsewhere for
inspiring us! Remember that larger cities often have satellite towns
and municipalities which can pass similar measures. And also that
cities and towns can influence state legislatures and federal elected
representatives to act. Ending the War will be a national election
issue if we make it one!
I realize that a number of recipients may live outside
Flagstaff. Please assist us if you can and *help get the word out*.

Monday December 10, 2007, 4 PM. (TOMORROW)
Flagstaff AZ City Hall
Daniel Robicheau will present a resolution to the Flagstaff Arizona
City Council this Monday December 10th 2007 at 4pm during the public
participation time of the Council Work Session to call for an end to
the Iraq war. (Public Participation is generally at the beginning of
the worksession.) This will be similar to resolutions passed in
other cities, most recently in Los Angeles. He'd like support from
the Flagstaff New Day Peace Center and the greater community. He is
taking this bold action as an individual and needs and deserves our
greatest support in the process to bring his resolution to a vote.
1) Support by attending the meeting if you can.
2) If you cannot attend, send the Flagstaff City Council a comment in support:
Subject: SUPPORT resolution to end the Iraq War
Email to: <council at ci.flagstaff.az.us>
Body: State your own reasons but mention that you support
specifically Dan Robicheau's effort to bring to Council and win
approval for a resolution to "End the War in Iraq". If you live in
Flagstaff, say so and state how long you have lived here; also say
that this is a key issue in your decision in the upcoming City
Council vote. If you do not live in Flagstaff, mention any
connections you and your family have with the city as visitors,
business people, etc. and how this issue might affect your support of
Flagstaff.
This will be an introduction by Mr. Robicheau to the Flagstaff City
Council of his intent to bring an actual resolution to the Council
for a vote. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that the Council is receptive to
his plan and that they actually consider it. Dan may need a council
member sponsor to bring the resolution forward. Use whatever
influence you have as a resident, citizen, veteran, voter or donor to
campaigns to help convince council people to assist in bringing the
resolution to the table.

On October 16, Los Angeles became the largest city in the nation
adopting a resolution to end the Iraq War by City Council resolution
(with concurrence by its Mayor on Oct 26).

(Discussion and voting on Measure 19 starts around 1hr40m into the
video and lasts about 1 hour.)
(This includes all of the usual issues including exactly why
ending the Iraq war is a *local* matter.)
