Peace Action 2008 is a campaign to plan and organize peace events for
2008 with a focus on ending the war in Iraq. The form of the campaign
will depend upon the general sense of the groups involved, and the
extent of collective actions.

*Some notes from the first November Planning Meeting:*

A detailed Campaign has yet to be fully developed, but the following
steps have been made. The overall theme that seemed supported by the
group was to focus on one large collective action in March and continue
to do the more individual group events, and support where we can. At
the same time expand out involvement with communities not currently
involved in our work to develop a rapport for cooperative action.

    * There was a general sense that April 19th should involve some
collective action, and an ongoing organizing process for April
19th. April 19th Working Group will meet Dec. 9th at 2 PM to
      get the ball rolling.
    * Working Group on developing a constituency outreach to be
      spearheaded by John Auer
    * Working Group on Direct Action was recommended
    * Working Group on letters to editors and politicians suggested

        2. Direct pressure to politicians, letters to editors
        3. Direct Action
        - other working groups may wish to form based on ongoing
    strategizing and discussion
Share process from working groups and determine next meetings

    Close

*Please review this proposed agenda and send comments for changes as
soon as possible. * Based on our first Peace Action 2008 (PA2008)
planning meeting it seems that the two main goals for this process are
to get a process and vision for the Fifth Anniversary and develop
workings groups to focus on areas of interest and need. My sense is
that new actions and strategies may arise out of the working groups that
will support any collective actions or be complimentary. The sense I
got from our November meeting was that we need to approach ending the
war from a variety of strategies and actions, some already in progress,
and the working groups will hopefully in part continue that process.
*
Please all reply with any brainstorm ideas you have in advance
especially if you will be unable to attend.

Let me know if you wish to be added to the Peace Action 2008 organizing
list.
