Hi All:

Friday, September 29, is the fifth Friday of the month, and we will hold a special Poetry, Peace and Music night at Dreamer's Coffeeshop (on the first floor of the Riverside Artists Lofts - 17 N. Virginia) from 7-10 p.m.

This special evening is to raise funds for Lisa Stiller, a local peace activist, to travel to Israel and Palestine as part of the Compassionate Listening Project (some details below.)

Poetry, Peace and Music normally happens on the first and third Fridays of each month, and is hosted by local musicians Lee Dazey, Kim Elise and Chris Good. These three perform, and there's lots of open mic time in between, with performances by poets, musicians, storytellers, thespians, puppeteers, and almost every other kind of performance you can think of.

Please come out Friday to watch, donate to a good cause, and even perform! Here is some information from Lisa about her trip:

--------------------------------------
I am embarking on a trip to Israel and Palestine with the Compassionate Listening Project, a non-profit group dedicated to healing conflict on many levels, from personal to international. The spiritual roots are drawn from Quaker and Buddhist traditions, but reflect what is common in most major spriitual practices: compassion, healing, listening, sharing, reflection.
The group has hosted delegations to the Middle East for many years. We will meet with Israeli Jews and Palestinians representing many different points of view, including political and spiritual leader, people working for reconciliation, educators, refugees, regular citizens, and yes, extremeists on both sides. Your support for this project will allow me to particpate in an experience that will add to those drops in the bucket of those working to bring peace to a region that has seen conflict for almost 60 years.
While in the Middle East I also plan to try to meet with other people from groups working for peace, and hope to bring back what we hear so little of: the efforts of peace groups on both sides, and how we here in Reno can help these groups. I also will bring back the perspectives of those we hear, and in this way contribute to some understanding of the conflict and hopes for peaceful reconciliation.
-----------------------------------

Thanks, and I hope to see you Friday,
-Chris
