[Peace-presence] UNR Series on Capital Punishment

The Newman Center is co-sponsoring an anti-death penalty series called
Faith in Action, with the ACLU of Nevada. There will be two events on
the UNR campus, and a third event at. Our Lady of Wisdom Newman Center,
accross Virginia Street from the campus.
The first will be on Friday, October 13th, at 7 P.M. in the Pine Lounge
in the Student Union. A movie called "The Exonerated" which documents
the experiences of 6 real death-row inmates portrayed by actors will be
shown, with a discussion to follow.
The second event will be on Saturday October 21st at Noon in the Alumni
Room at the UNR Student Union. The speaker, Marrietta Jaguer-Lane. will
discuss her experiences in working to end capital punishment, including
publicly forgiving her daughter's murderer.
Faith in Action will culminate on Sunday October 22nd with Fr. Frank
Hoffman talking about why we as Catholic Christians should be opposed to
the death penalty, during Mass at Our Lady of Wisdom Newman Center, 1101
N. Virginia Street.
