Poetry, Peace and Music at Dreamer's Coffee Shop Friday, July 21
Poetry, Peace and Music happen on the first and third Fridays of each month
at Dreamer's Coffee Shop, on the first floor of the Riverside Artists Lofts
at 17 S. Virginia Street, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Friday, July 21 will be a special version of Poetry, Peace and Music because
it will feature a performance of "Reno is Artown and Paris is Nervous, or
How the Trout Saved Artown" by the Theoretical Theater of Reno. This piece
tells the story of French jealousy of Reno, and includes the following line
from a character named Gaston: "We must resist....I have a plan.... I know
just the thing. No they wont get away with it. I hate their big smiles,
their bright lights, their beep beepers, I hate their big lakes, their back
roads, their jeep jeepers, I hate their blue skies and their mountains so
tall, I must stop this Artown from coming at ALL!"
Poetry, Peace and Music is hosted by Reno-area musicians Lee Dazey, Kim
Elise and Chris Good, and features open-mic performances of all stripes.
Rappers, magicians, thespians, storytellers and puppeteers have graced the
stage alongside poets, folk musicians, punks and classical guitarists. All
are welcome and encouraged to share their talents in this warm, encouraging
environment. And those who come to simply watch are guaranteed to be
impressed with many strong performances.
The events are free, and the theme of the evenings is peace. They take
place on the first and third Fridays of each month.
