    What: Area peace activists will hold a gathering to honor the 58th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the UN on Dec. 10, 1948. The gathering will consist of  a reading of the Declaration, music and silent reflection.

    

    When: Dec. 10, 5pm - 5:30pm

    

    Where: Brick Park (West Park Plaza), W. First and West Streets

    

    More information: Communities across the country and throughout the world will be holding events to commemorate the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration. Given the horrendous human rights abuses throughout the world - in Sudan, Darfur, the Middle East, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc - and here in the US, we feel it is extremely important for our community to draw attention to this document.  The Declaration says that "recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family. is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world..."
